“The leaked tire” one of the most problem that every car user got. But if you need to patch the tire, which process should be the best.
Believed that many people must have gotten the leaked tire problem when it unexpectedly happened, the first solution for solving this problem is “patching up the tire” but which solution is the best.
The solutions for patching up the tire
- Putting the plug Often use with the small hole cause by the nail and small bolt. The mechanic will take the nail out, then use the pointy whet to clean the hole and put the plug which compounded with synthetic fiber, raw rubber and glue into the hole.
- Streaming is the original solution for patching up the tire, can be used with any kind of vehicle from the bicycle to the truck. Can divided into 2 types.
– Heat streaming This process must have taken the tire out of the wheel before cleaning the leak from the inside with the whetstone, then apply the glue and seal the leak with the patching rubber and use the heat to melt the patching rubber with the tire to seal it permanently.
– Cool streaming This process is similar to the heat streaming by after taking the tire out of the wheel then cleaning the leak from the inside with the whetstone. Apply the glue then leave it to be damp. After that apply the patching rubber on the leak then smack it with a hammer to seal it.
Advantages and disadvantages of each patching types
Put in the plug
Advantages
– Easy, convenient, quick, cheap, don’t need to take out the tire and be able to do by yourself if you have the equipment
Disadvantages
– Can be only used with the small hole and could be leak in the same area again. The plug could be lost after a while.
Heat streaming
Advantages
– The leak will be permanently sealed and be able to take up the weight as the normal tire.
Disadvantages
– There is a chance that the heat will bend the tire structure and got a lump.
There is a gain, there is a lost. Same as the patching up the tire, there isn’t the best solution. It depends on the purpose of each vehicles. Just choose the appropriate one for your vehicle’s purpose.
Cool streaming
Advantages
– By not using the heat, the tire structure will not be damaged
Disadvantages
– The capability for taking heavy load will decrease. Not suitable for the heavy-loaded purposed vehicles but no problem for the common car.
There is a gain, there is a lost. Same as the patching up the tire, there isn’t the best solution. It depends on the purpose of each vehicles. Just choose the appropriate one for your vehicle’s purpose.
